#11 - Reflection

After watching the media footage through after filming, there are things that I thought were done well and some thing that could have been done better.

Things done well:

  • Team work
  • Organisation
  • Time management
  • Planning
  • Working with each individuals skills
  • Double the amount of filming
  • Working with the technology

Things that could be improved:

  • After looking back at the footage we had filmed it was obvious we could have improved the camera movement, we looked back and saw that to improve we should move with the cameras with our arms and not just our legs to allow smoother camera movement.
  • The other thing to improve on would be rather than using mobile phones to see watch the music video to enable us to recreate the video shot by shot, we should have printed off our shot by shot analysis to enable efficient filming.

In the end I really enjoyed creating this piece and working with people I would normally work with, proving that as a class, our team work skills have improved massively since AS.

#10 - Final preliminary piece

After all the filming, we were given the task to put the two groups work together and make our own individual edit to improve individual editing skills.

This is my final preliminary piece.

#9 - Practice shots

To make sure we are able to recreate the shots accurately we began to experiment and practice with the shots, this would also make our actual filming accurate. Here is a video clip of us practicing shots with the camera and where the actors/actresses would stand.

#8 - Risk Assessment

A risk assessment has been carried out to make sure that when we begin to film our part of the Jessie J music video we will be in safe surroundings and know what to do if anything goes wrong. James, in my group, took it upon himself to create a risk assessment sheet to enable to safe filming.

#7 - Costume planning

The main costume needed within our part of the music video is that of the young Jessie J's and her costume is simple and easy for us to recreate.

It will consist of a dark coloured baseball jacket, supplied by Faith and a rucksack, supplied by me.

#6 - Shot by shot analysis

Here is a shot by shot analysis of the Jessie J music video which is needed to enable us to recreate the music video shot by shot, which has been asked of us to do. This will enable my group and I to recreate the music video in a fast efficient way.

#5 - Actors/Lighting planning

The actors have been picked as they are readily available to film the recreation.

Young Jessie J - Laura Bryan

Cafeteria Lady - Faith Roberts

Cleaner - Ellie Topp (Me

Extras - Joe Fox, Toby Charlesworth, Rebecca Dear, Faith Roberts and James Allsopp

Lighting Planning

Theatre - Theatre is fitted with lights that we have permission to use in order to spotlight the area in which the young Jessie J is in during the music video.

Corridor/Cafeteria - natural lighting for the large amount of windows which also adds verisimilitude to the school setting.

#4 - Lyrics planning

Here are the lyrics for Who's laughing now, the lyrics within our part of the music video are highlighted.

Mummy they call me names

They wouldn't let me play

I'd run home, sit and cry almost everyday

'Hey Jessica, you look like an alien

With green skin you don't fit in this playpen'

Well they pull my hair

They took away my chair

I keep it in and pretend that I didn't care

'Hey Jessica, you're so funny

You've got teeth just like Bugs bunny'

Oh, so you think you know me now

Have you forgotten how

You would make me feel

When you drag my spirit down

But thank you for the pain

It made me raise my game

And I'm still rising, I'm still rising

Yeah

So make your jokes

Go for broke

Blow your smoke

You're not alone

But who's laughing now

But who's laughing now

So raise the bar

Hit me hard

Play your cards

Be a star

But who's laughing now

But who's laughing now

Cos I'm in L.A

You think I've made my fame

If it makes us friends

When you only really know my name

'Oh Jessie, we knew you could make it

I've got a track and I'd love you to take it'

So now because I'm signed

You think my pockets lined

4 years now and I'm still waiting in the line

'Oh Jessie, I saw you on youtube

I tagged old photos from when we was at school'

Oh, so you think you know me now

Have you forgotten how

You would make me feel

When you drag my spirit down

But thank you for the pain

It made me raise my game

And I'm still rising, I'm still rising

Yeah

So make your jokes

Go for broke

Blow your smoke

You're not alone

But who's laughing now

But who's laughing now

So raise the bar

Hit me hard

Play your cards

Be a star

But who's laughing now

But who's laughing now

Jessie

She broke out of the box

Swallowed your pride

You got that ego cough

Let the haters hate

You're like way too late

See I got a message from you

'Hola, I'm proud of you'

'Oh my god babe your voice is like wow!'

My reply: Who's laughing now

Oh, so you think you know me now

Have you forgotten how

You would make me feel

When you drag my spirit down

But thank you for the pain

It made me raise my game

And I'm still rising, I'm still rising

Yeah

So make your jokes

Go for broke

Blow your smoke

You're not alone

But who's laughing now

But who's laughing now

So raise the bar

Hit me hard

Play your cards

Be a star

But who's laughing now

But who's laughing now

So make your jokes

Go for broke

Blow your smoke

You're not alone

But who's laughing now

But who's laughing now

So raise the bar

Hit me hard

Play your cards

Be a star

But who's laughing now

#3 - Planning/props

As there is a lot of props throughout the music video which are an important part therefore I wanted to recreate these props but in a simple manor.

Time planning

To film this music video I have planned to use my school on our inset day, Wednesday 26th of June after asking for permission from teachers. We plan to meet at school and 9am for a full day of filming.

#2 - Planning

After analysing the music video I created a brainstorm of all the shots used so I could the incorporate these into my recreation of the music video.

I also went on to further analyse the location of the music video and the props used to help recreate this music video.

  • The location of the music video was in a school, therefore for my recreation I decided to set this in my school, Ashfield School, in corridoors, the theatre and classrooms after getting permission as seen below.

#1 - Jessie J music video

Here is the Jessie J music video for 'Who's laughing now' produced in 2011, that we wish to recreate.
